Box Score

Conway, SC- Junior Beneé Norton (Atlanta, GA) showed fans what the Knights are made of as the St. Andrews women’s basketball team traveled to Coastal Carolina University this weekend. Norton led the Royal Blue and White in total points and rebounds, earning 10 of the Knights’ 42 points and grabbing three offensive and six defensive rebounds, just one rebound shy of earning a double-double. The Chanticleers challenged the Knights and used strong shooters to gain a lead that would bring the game to a final score of 90-42, as SAU lost to the Division I, Big South squad.

Taking the first four points of the game, the Knights (0-2 Overall, 0-0 Conference) worked hard to keep up with the Chanticleers (3-0, 0-0). SAU came up 14 points short of Coastal at the half, but struggled to stay with CCU as they could not get many shots from the field to fall in the second half.

In addition to Norton’s hard work, several other Knights also crashed the boards to pick up rebounds for St. Andrews as the team earned 14-28 (offensive-defensive). Angeline Domingo-Francois (Burtonsville, MD), Kimayah Fulcher (New Bern, NC), and Brittany Roberts (Concord, NC) each added six rebounds for the 'Drew, while Tyler Knight (Greenville, NC), Ariel Reaves (Myrtle Beach, SC), Rachel Hewitt (Kokomo, IN), and Rebecca Bryant (Cincinnati, OH) also snagged a few rebounds (4, 3, 3, and 1 respectively).

Posting points for SAU, Roberts and Knight each put up seven. In Roberts’ drive to the basket, she picked up three field goals and also earned a free-throw point after she drew a foul on an attempted lay-up. After assisting two of her teammates’ shots, Knight added one short range basket while also sinking one from behind the arc and shooting 100% at the line by putting both of her free-throws in the hoop. Reaves used the Coastal defense to her advantage as she took the ball down low to draw several fouls. She contributed four from the free-throw line in addition to her shot from the field as she earned six total points for the Knights.

The ladies will host the Patriots of Francis Marion University on Tuesday, November 22 at 5:30 PM. Come out and support the Knights as they play at Harris Court for their last game before Thanksgiving. This will also provide you an opportunity to help the St. Andrews Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in their effort to collect toys for Toys-for-Tots this year. So, do not forget to bring a new, unwrapped toy with you as you swing by Harris Court on Tuesday evening for an exciting game of Knights Basketball!
