In their own words...
"Living on campus is a life experience I have learned so much from. We eat together, watch TV together, study together, and do absolutely nothing together. When I go home for breaks, it’s like I’m leaving my second family!"

Greenville, NC- The St. Andrews University women's basketball team traveled to Greenville, NC, on Sunday to play against the Pirates of East Carolina University. The Knights entered Minges Coliseum and immediately felt the luxury of a D-I program. The Knights kept up with the Pirates at the start of the game, but could never find a chance to gain a lead. With a final score of 109-30, SAU valued Rebecca Bryant’s skills, as she posted 13 of the Knights’ 30 points.

Bryant, a Cincinnati native, not only contributed 13 points for SAU, but also picked up four rebounds, three being defensive. Bryant also managed to sink the only long range shot for the Knights, while ECU put down six field goals from behind the arc. St. Andrews went 55.6% at the line on Sunday, a slightly higher percentage than ECU’s 47.4%.

Not only was the game a phenomenal personal experience for the team, it was a kind of homecoming for two players as well. Tyler Knight (Greenville, NC) and Kimayah Fulcher (New Bern, NC) played in front of family and friends at Minges Coliseum this weekend. With a plethora of support from the stands, the Knights saw over 50 fans attend the game to cheer on the ladies of St. Andrews.

Fulcher and Knight were active under the goal for SAU as they picked up several rebounds each, eight and five respectively. Working inside the arc, Brittany Roberts (Concord, NC) earned the second highest number of points for St. Andrews with five, finding the basket from around the key and at the free-throw line.

As a way of recognizing player accomplishments, Head Coach Jessica Vanco and Assistant Coach Taylor Price select an Offensive and Defensive player of the game after every competition. For their contributions during Sunday’s game, Bryant earned the Offensive Player of the Game, while Fulcher was selected as the Defensive Player of the Game

The Knights will host Columbia College on Wednesday, November 16 at 5:30 PM. The Columbia game will mark SAU’s 2011-2012 home opener, so be sure to grab a seat at Harris Court on Wednesday to catch all of the women’s basketball action.
