LAURINBURG, N.C.—Senior center Kayla Hay (Hanover, Ind.) had a 27-point, 13-rebound performance in her collegiate finale for host St. Andrews Presbyterian College in a 70-50 Conference Carolinas women’s basketball loss to Limestone College on Saturday afternoon’s ‘Senior Day’.

Senior Kayla Hay (pictured) scored a career-high 27 points in her 74th collegiate game at St. Andrews.

Hay totaled a game-high 27 points, which is her career high in a Royal Blue & White uniform. Hay pulled down 13 rebounds to complete her seventh double-double of the season. Hay – who is the last remaining player from the 2007 St. Andrews squad that qualified for the NCAA National Tournament – concludes her career with 13 double-doubles, 537 points, 428 rebounds, and 93 blocks.

The Saints (17-10 Overall, 15-7 Conf.) won its fourth straight game to end the season, earning the No. 3 seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament. Limestone will host No. 6 seed Belmont Abbey College in the quarterfinals on Monday at 7 p.m.

St. Andrews (3-23, 1-21) concluded its season playing its fifth straight game with only five active players. The Lady Knights celebrated ‘Senior Day’ before the game honoring Hay and point guard Jaquese Smith (Raleigh, N.C.). Smith -- the team’s leader in assists, free throw percentage, and minutes played – produced 427 points, 138 rebounds, 105 assists, and 54 steals in 50 starts over her two-year career at SAPC.

Limestone scored the game’s first 10 points and held the Knights scoreless for almost six minutes and never trailed. The Knights never quit and pulled to within five (23-18) at the five minute mark of the first half on a Hay hoop but the Saints closed the period on a 15-4 run to take a 16-point (38-22) advantage at halftime.

Hay scored 16 of her 27 points in the first half. Limestone maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half before completing the 20-point victory.

Tia Williams and Maria Young led the Saints with 12 points apiece. Whitney Todd posted an 11-point, 14-rebound double-double. Todd’s game-high 14 rebounds helped Limestone dominate the backboards, 58-41.

The visitors shot 35.9% while SAPC fired at 26.6% accuracy. The Knights did a good job protecting the ball only committing 11 turnovers while forcing the Saints into 13 mistakes.

Hay, the conference leader in blocks, also had two blocks and two steals while Smith handed out a game-high five assists. Sophomore guard Megan Lee (Chillicothe, Ohio) drained 13 points to finish her first season at St. Andrews averaging 13.2 points per game. Smith and freshman Sylvee Ubiera (Westport, Mass.) both chipped in four points and four rebounds.
