THOMASVILLE, N.C.—For the second straight year senior forward Danielle Norman (Bronx, N.Y.) of St. Andrews Presbyterian College was named to the Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball All-Conference Second Team announced league officials on Friday morning.
Norman, who was a contender for the league Player of the Year award until she missed 11 games due to season ending surgery, has been selected to the All-Conference list in both seasons she wore a St. Andrews uniform.
“I am very proud of Danielle. The two years she spent with this program were outstanding. She has given the coaches, her teammates, and fans every ounce she has as player and for that type of effort and commitment, she will be greatly missed,” said David Johnson, who recruited Norman to St. Andrews and coached her the past two years.
Norman led the Lady Knights in both points and rebounds this year. Norman ranked first out of players from all 11 Conference Carolinas schools with 10.6 rebounds per game. Norman also ranked No. 3 in the league in scoring with 16.0 points/game and in the top-10 with a free-throw percentage of 82.4%.
Norman, who averaged a double-double for the season, had 10 double-doubles in 16 games in 2007/08.
Norman was tearing up the league including being named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on January 8, 2008 before season-ending surgery had her missing half of the Knights 20 conference games.
Norman, who had 22 double-doubles in her two seasons at SAPC, was voted as a second team All-Conference honoree in 2007. Norman finished her collegiate career with over 1,350 points, 875 rebounds, 150 steals, 90 assists, and 75 blocks. Norman’s staggering averages included 13.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in 99 career games.
