Norman & Johnson amongst national stat leaders

LAURINBURG, N.C.—Senior forward Danielle Norman (Bronx, N.Y.) ranks nationally in both rebounds per game and free throw percentage while classmate April Johnson (McColl, S.C.) also ranks nationally in blocked shots per game in the latest NCAA Division II women’s basketball statistical ranking released on Tuesday.

The NCAA Division II statistical reports are posted online every week at www.ncaasports.com. To be ranked in individual categories, a basketball student-athlete must appear in at least 75.0% of the team's games played. The NCAA reports stats for individual basketball players from more than 280 Division II colleges and universities with the top-performers being listed in the weekly rankings.

Norman, who ranks first in Conference Carolinas in rebounding with 10.6 boards per game, is ranked 16th nationally in rebounding. Norman, who also ranks second in the league in free throw percentage (with at least 2.5 made FT’s per game), is 60th in the nation converting on 82.4-percent of her attempts from the free throw line averaging about 5.4 makes per contest.

Johnson is the two-time reigning shot block leader in Conference Carolinas once again sits atop the 11-team association with 1.7 blocks per game. Johnson’s presence in the post is also nationally recognized as her 1.7 BPG is ranked tied for 51st nationally.

The Lady Knights next hit the hardwood against Conference Carolinas rival Coker College on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Harris Court.
