THOMASVILLE, N.C.—St. Andrews’ Danielle Norman (2-8 overall, 1-3 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's basketball Player of the Week during week number six in the 2007-08 season (includes all games over the holiday break from 12/17/07 through 1/6/08).
The senior forward from Bronx, N.Y. continues to impress having averaged over a double-double in her last four games with 18.25 points and 10.75 rebounds helping the St. Andrews Presbyterian College women's basketball team earn their first Conference Carolinas win of the season.
Norman had a team-high 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lady Knights past conference rival Lees-McRae 82-65. Norman also added three assists, one block, and one steal to her double-double against the Lady Bobcats.
In a long trip to Highland Heights, Kentucky before the holiday break, Norman posted two consecutive double-doubles in the Travel America Classic. Norman had 19 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals against Kentucky Wesleyan and followed it up with 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds against host and No. 11 nationally ranked Northern Kentucky University. Norman, who has five double-doubles on the season in just nine games, just missed another double-double with a game-high 22 points and seven rebounds against UNC Pembroke.
Norman currently ranks fifth in the league in scoring (15.6) and second in rebounding (10.8).
Norman and the Lady Knights next hit the hardwood against Conference Carolinas rival Mount Olive College on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Harris Court.
