Norman named CVAC women's basketball Player of the Week

THOMASVILLE, N.C.Danielle Norman, a 5'11 junior forward from St. Andrews Presbyterian College, has been selected as the NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference (CVAC) women's basketball ‘Player of the Week' in the ninth week of the 2006-07 season.

Danielle Norman averaged a double-double for the week as the St. Andrews women's basketball team went a perfect 2-0 in CVAC play including an upset victory over No. 23 nationally ranked Anderson University. The Lady Knights dominated the backboards in the match-up of regionally ranked teams, 47-27, with Norman leading the way with a career-high 18 boards (10 offensive). Norman also scored 17 points to lead SAPC past No. 23 Anderson 62-55. Norman added 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals in just 22 minutes as the Knights coasted past Queens University of Charlotte, 62-48, on the road Thursday. The Bronx, New York, native, who has five double-doubles on the season, posted one of them on Monday night with team-highs of 16 points and 13 boards against non-region UNC-Pembroke. Norman leads No. 3 East Region ranked St. Andrews with 12.6 points/game and 8.19 rebounds/game.

Norman and the Lady Knights are currently in a three-way tie for second place in the CVAC with a 10-2 league record and 13-4 overall mark. They will travel to league leading Barton College on Thursday before going to Limestone on Saturday.
