SAU Volleyball Sees Falcons Fly by in ThreeNovember 9, 2011 Misenheimer, NC- St. Andrews women’s volleyball traveled to Pfeiffer University this weekend to play their final match of the 2011 season. Despite a close second set, the ladies found themselves unable to get past the Falcons as they lost 3-0 (12-25, 24-26, 16-25). Freshman Celia Duggan (Lugoff, SC) once again led the Knights’ (0-17 Conference, 2-30 Overall) offense by putting down six kills for SAU. Tying for second, Lyndsey Moss (Marston, NC) and Ashleigh Fritter (Midway Park, NC) each blasted four kills, helping push the Knights to a team total of 20. Setting 16 assists, Megan Nelson (Edmonds, WA) was all over the court on Saturday, as she also took 10 swings at the Falcons (7-10, 10-14). Moreno Valley, CA, native Allie Garland dug 19 attacks that the Falcons sent at the Knights, giving her a season total of 448 digs and placing her in the top five in the conference in total digs and digs per set. Ruka Akolade (Aurora, CO) and Nelson kept several attempted kills from hitting the floor as well, with five and six respectively. The ladies are looking forward to the spring season, during which the Knights Netters will get more time to work together through not only practice, but possibly a couple of tournaments as well. Look for the Knights Volleyball 2012 schedule next fall. -GO KNIGHTS-
