Orangeburg, SC- The ladies of SAU volleyball took a trip to South Carolina to play the Panthers of Claflin University this evening. With a strong front row, the Panthers easily got around the Knights in the 0-3 (11-25, 15-25, 14-25) loss for St. Andrews.

The Knights (2-26) were only able to earn 18 kills in tonight’s game, while the Panthers smashed 41 kills. Celia Duggan (Lugoff, SC) got around the block and put down seven kills, leading SAU. Next up for the Knights was Ilaisha Hale (Moreno, CA), who hit four successful attacks. Megan Nelson (Edmonds, WA) once again ran the Knights’ offense and set 11 assists, followed by Allie Garland (Moreno Valley, CA) who had five.

Ashleigh Fritter (Midway Park, NC) and Ruka Akolade (Aurora, CO) worked for SAU defensively. Each of these two ladies picked up nine balls that the Panthers threw at St. Andrews. Garland also helped keep the ball alive by digging eight attacked balls, with Amanda VanKleeck (Deltona, FL) earning six digs.

The Knights will head home for two more Conference Carolinas games this weekend. Look for the Knights Netters on Friday, October 28 at 7:00 PM on Harris Court on the campus of St. Andrews University as they take on the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College.
