Crusaders March by the Knights in Three SetsOctober 14, 2011 Tigerville, SC- The Knights Netters started their weekend trip at North Greenville University this evening. The Crusaders of NGU (3-8 Conference, 11-12 Overall) used powerful net play to breeze by the Knights. With 11 more kills than the Knights, the Crusaders claimed an 0-3 (18-25, 18-25, 10-25) victory over St. Andrews. Three Knights (0-11, 2-17) earned a .125 hitting percentage this evening. Stephanie Lombardo (Winterville, NC), Ashleigh Fritter (Midway Park, NC), and Benee Norton (Rex, GA) pulled out the highest hitting percentages of the game for the Knights as they tied at .125 with seven, three, and three kills respectively. Putting the Knights in a position to make a successful attack, Megan Nelson (Edmonds, WA) set 12 assists while Fritter earned five assists. Freshman Ilaisha Hale (Moreno, CA) once again got her arms above the net and earned one solo block and paired up with teammate Lombardo to put up a successful double block. Staying ready on defense, Nelson led the squad with 12 digs. Lombardo picked up nine attacks by the Crusaders, earning a dig for each one. Allie Garland (Moreno Valley, CA), Sam Neveu (Greenville, SC), Ruka Akolade (Aurora, CO), and Fritter also did their part to keep the Knights in the game by earning the remaining 10 digs SAU got for a total of 31. Continuing their travel, the Knights are headed to King College in Bristol, TN, to compete in a tri-match. During the event, the ladies will take on the King College Tornado as part of their Conference Carolinas play. SAU is scheduled to take the court at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 15.
