Box Score

Charlotte, NC- The Knights could not keep up on the court against the hosting Royals of Queens University of Charlotte. St. Andrews Volleyball picked up the pace in the third game, but it was a little too late as the Royals took the victory 0-3 (13-25, 8-25, 15-25) over the Knights.

The SAU ladies tried to get every point that they could, but did not manage to find the court enough to defeat the Royals (4-0 Conference, 10-4 Overall). Celia Duggan (Lugoff, SC) led the Knights (0-6 Conference, 2-12 Overall) in kills with nine and also pulled down a solo block for the ‘Drew. Also putting up strong hands, Stephanie Lombardo (Winterville, NC) got herself a solo block off of the Royals’ attack, while Ilaisha Hale (Moreno Valley, CA) and Lombardo used a double block to score two more points for the Knights.

A trio of Knights tied in kills by each pounding three set balls straight down, Ashleigh Fritter (Midway Park, NC), Ruka Akolade (Aurora, CO), and Allie Garland (Moreno Valley, CA). Megan Nelson (Edmonds, WA) worked hard to give the Knights opportunities to attack the ball as she set 13 assists, followed closely by Fritter who assisted eight of SA’s kills.

Garland hit the floor for SAU and dug 17 balls that the Royals smashed at the Knights. Putting forth a great effort, Fritter and Nelson also tried to keep the ball in play as much as possible by earning numerous digs- 11 and 6 respectively.

The Knights will finally suit up and make an appearance at Harris Court on the campus of St. Andrews University on Friday, September 30 at 7:00 PM. Be sure to come out and support the Knights Netters in their home opener!
