Knights volleyball wins league showdown at Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C.—Senior Tara Lemieux (Panama City, Fla.) recorded 15 kills, 18 digs and seven service aces to propel St. Andrews Presbyterian College past Anderson University, 30-25, 23-30, 30-18, 30-24 in a Conference Carolinas match Friday night at the Abney Center.

St. Andrews improved to 8-12 overall and 7-3 in Conference Carolinas, avenging a loss to the Trojans earlier in the season. The loss dropped Anderson to 10-11, 6-3.

Sophomore Jamie Hayes (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) had 50 assists for the Knights and two service aces. Senior Lindsey Stansbury (Morgan City, La.) had 14 kills and 13 digs for the Knights. Senior Erin Haugen (Ft. Mill, S.C.) led the St. Andrews defense with 26 digs.

Lindsay Doggett had 38 assists and 10 digs for the Lady Trojans. Anderson's kill leaders were Amanda Edwards, who had 12 kills, and Jamie Lancaster, who had 11 kills.  Lancaster also recorded two blocks for the Lady Trojans.  Amanda Hardwood led Anderson's defense with 17 digs.

The Knights visit Conference Carolinas rival Converse College tomorrow (Saturday) in Spartanburg, S.C. at 2:00 p.m. SAPC also battles Lander University tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. in a non-conference neutral site game at Converse.
