SAPC volleyball falls in four to Francis Marion

FLORENCE, N.C.—Senior outside hitter Tara Lemieux (Panama City, Fla.) led visiting St. Andrews Presbyterian College with 18 kills, 15 digs, and three blocks but host Francis Marion University held on for a 30-26, 19-30, 30-24, 30-26 non-conference volleyball win Tuesday night.

The Knights (7-12 overall) bounced back from a close first game loss with a dominating second, rolling to the 11-point victory and tying the match at 1-1. However, FMU bounced back and edged SAPC in the final two games to take the contest.

Senior Lindsey Stansbury (Morgan City, La.) added 14 kills, 21 digs, and three service aces. Sophomore setter Jaime Hayes (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) dished out 48 assists and a team-high 23 digs digs, while senior libero Erin Haugen (Ft. Mill, S.C.) and freshman Katie Lovett (Concord, N.C.) dug up another 15 and 13 balls, respectively. Sophomore Galina Podolsky (Raleigh, N.C.) made a team-high six blocks to go along with nine kills.

Junior Jessica Lombardi recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 18 kills and 12 digs, while senior Jackie Phiel tallied a season-high 30 digs to lead Francis Marion University to the four-game victory.

Sophomore Krissy Mordini added 14 kills and freshman Mallory Eggert registered a career-high 13 kills and five total blocks as FMU improved to 6-14. Sophomore setter Jess O’Leary handed out 42 assists, while freshman Kelsie Deaton dug up 20 balls.

St. Andrews returns to Conference Carolinas action on Friday evening at Anderson University for a 6:30 p.m. match.
