Bobcats roar past Knights volleyball, 3-1

LAURINBURG, N.C.—Senior hitter Lacie Smith (Knoxville, Tenn.) totaled 17 kills, 12 digs, four blocks, and two service aces to lead visiting Lees-McRae College to a 3-1 (30-28, 30-25, 23-30, 30-23) conquest of St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Harris Court on Friday.

The Lady Bobcats, ranked No. 7 in the Atlantic Region, improved to 20-7 overall and 12-2 in the CVAC; while the Lady Knights fell to 13-15 and 6-6.

Freshman Tiarra Pendleton (Alta Loma, Calif.) had 15 kills and 14 digs for the visitors while classmate Trisha Reese (Hanover, Pa.) supplied 20 assists and two aces. Freshman Lauren Dickover (Las Vegas, Nev.) set up a team-high 27 assists; junior Daviana Metti (Cordoba, Argentina) ripped 14 kills; and sophomore Natalie Burns (Orlando, Fla.) had three total blocks.

The Knights, who hit .267 as a team, were led by senior Jesi Bewley’s (Cincinnati, Ohio) 15 kills, 12 digs, seven blocks and .379 hitting %. Junior Tara Lemieux (Panama City, Fla.) spiked a team-high 16 kills to go along with 14 digs. Junior Lindsey Stansbury (Morgan City, La.) logged 15 kills and a team-high 22 digs. Senior Kim Harper (Boca Raton, Fla.) had 52 assists and junior Erin Haugen (Fort Mill, S.C.) scooped up 21 digs.

The Lady Knights head right back onto Harris Court on Saturday morning, when they host CVAC rival Pfeiffer University at 11:00 a.m.
