September 11, 2006

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Senior setter Kim Harper (Boca Raton, Fla.) posted 27 assists, two solo blocks, and two services aces as the St. Andrews Presbyterian College volleyball team belted Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference rival Queens University of Charlotte 3-0 (30-18, 30-20, 30-20) Monday in ‘The Oven’.

The Lady Knights improved to 8-7 overall and remained flawless the CVAC (which will be renamed Conference Carolinas next year) at 2-0. The Royals fell to 0-7 and 0-4.

“It was nice to come out and play well with some energy after a tough weekend,” said second year head coach Dan Kreiger. “We played with more motivation to play hard which led to the victory.”

Junior Lindsey Stansbury (Morgan City, La.) added nine digs, eight kills, and two aces for SAPC. Senior Jesi Bewley (Cincinnati, Ohio) and freshman Galina Podolsky (Raleigh, N.C.) both spiked eight kills. Podolsky also finished with eight kills and two aces.

Kreiger, who played all 12 players on the young St. Andrews roster, also expressed satisfaction in getting everyone time on the court on Monday to gain more valuable experience.

Senior Lauren McManus (Raleigh, N.C.) made 10 digs and fired a team-high three aces in the winning effort. Junior libero Erin Haugen (Fort Mill, S.C.) chipped in with 14 digs.

It was nice picking up the CVAC win to start a tough conference week,” concluded Kreiger.

The Lady Knights entertain league foe Mount Olive College on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
