GLENVILLE, W.Va.—After dropping a 3-1 (28-30, 30-19, 32-30, 30-27) contest to Francis Marion University, the St. Andrews Presbyterian College volleyball team rebounded with a 3-1 (30-28, 30-15, 25-30, 30-15) victory over host Glenville State College in the season opening Pioneer Invitational Tournament on Friday afternoon.
The Knights (1-1 overall) will conclude play at the Pioneer Invite on Saturday with a doubleheader that includes an 11:00 a.m. showdown with the University of Bridgeport and a 3:00 p.m. match-up with Slippery Rock University.
St. Andrews 1 (30, 19, 30, 27) vs. Francis Marion 3 (28, 30, 32, 30)
Freshman middle blocker Galina Podolsky (Raleigh, N.C.) led the Knights attack against the Lady Patriots (1-0) with 11 kills, a .267 hitting percentage, five block assists, two solo blocks, and two service aces.
Junior transfers Tara Lemieux (Panama City, Fla.) and Lindsey Stansbury (Morgan City, La.) followed with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Senior middle blocker Jesi Bewley (Cincinnati, Ohio) added seven kills and a .222 hitting percentage. Senior setter Kim Harper (Boca Raton, Fla.) posted 38 assists and 10 digs. Junior libero Erin Haugen (Fort Mill, S.C.) had a team-high 16 digs while senior defensive specialist Lauren McManus (Raleigh, N.C.) had 12 digs. Lemieux and McManus also rifled two aces each.

Harper opened the season with back-to-back matches with 30-plus assists setting up 30 kills in the Knights first victory of the season over the Lady Pioneers (0-1). Harper also scorched two aces.
Bewley and Podolsky each had 11 kills. Podolsky finished with a .346 hitting percentage, three aces, and two solo blocks while Bewley connected for a .292 hitting %. Haugen chipped in with 20 digs and Stansbury added 15 digs.
