LAURINBURG, N.C.—Dan Kreiger, head volleyball coach at St. Andrews Presbyterian College, announced the signing of Junior College transfers Lindsey Stansbury and Tara Lemieux on Friday to study at SAPC and play for the Knights volleyball team in 2006.
Kreiger, entering his second season at the helm of the St. Andrews volleyball program, completes his first recruiting class with the additions of Stansbury and Lemieux.
Both transfers come to St. Andrews after playing two years at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida.
“We are excited to add these two student-athletes to our program,” said Kreiger. “Their experience at the Junior College level is going to be a highly valuable asset to our young squad.”
Lindsey Stansbury is a five-foot, nine-inch outside hitter that graduated from Morgan City High School. The Morgan City, Louisiana, native was an All-Conference and Athlete of the Year in 2005 while playing at Gulf Coast Community College.
“Lindsey is a very smart attacker who will add some much needed depth to our roster,” stated Kreiger. “We are looking for her to come in and handle some of our primary passing responsibilities also.”
Tara Lemieux is a five-foot, ten-inch outside hitter that graduated from Mosley High School. The Panama City, Florida, native was an All-Conference and All-Tournament volleyball player in high school before becoming an All-Conference selection at G.C.C.C.
“Tara is a strong hitter who gives some more explosiveness at the net,” expressed Kreiger. “We are looking for Tara to compete for time at the left side and right side positions.”
Stansbury and Lemieux increase’s the 2006 roster total to 13 student-athletes including six letter winners and five freshmen. The Knights begin the ’06 campaign with four matches at the Glenville State Tournament (West Virginia) on August 25 & 26.
