HARTSVILLE, SC—In the Knights final regular season match, host Coker College defeated St. Andrews Presbyterian College, 3-1 (35-33, 25-30, 30-22, 30-28), in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference volleyball action on Wednesday.
In her final home game of her career Andrea Manuel had 16 kills and 14 digs, while sophomore Margaret Madison, had 26 kills and eight blocks. Junior Tara Nelson had 61 assists in the match; fellow junior Courtney Barton had 12 kills. Libero Ashley Schaum made 14 digs and defensive specialist Natalie Schembra had three aces.
The Knights of St. Andrews were led by Liz Windham, who had a .333 hitting percentage with eight kills and no errors. Jesi Bewley posted 21 kills, eight blocks and three aces; while Lauren McManus and Dani Ghramm had 14 and 10 kills, respectively. Kim Harper gave the Knights 45 assists and 19 digs, and Erin Hauger had 26 digs. Ghramm also contributed six service aces to St. Andrews offense.
Coker improved to 16-13 overall, and 15-4 in the CVAC, while St. Andrews dropped to 3-23 overall and 3-16 in the CVAC.
The Knights will enter into the 2005 CVAC Volleyball Tournament, which is hosted by St. Andrews on November 11-13, as the No. 10 seed. SAPC will play the No. 7 seed (TBA) on Friday, November 11 at 4:00 p.m.
