LAURINBURG, NC—Pfeiffer University defeated host St. Andrews 3-0 (30-23, 30-26, 33-31) in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference volleyball action Saturday, spoiling the Knights ‘Homecoming’ game.
The Lady Falcons improved to 8-12 overall and 7-9 in the CVAC while the Knights fell to 1-19 and 1-12.
After winning the first two games, Pfeiffer had to fight off two St. Andrews game points in the third that would have extend the match. The Falcons were successful in those attempts and went on to win the close deciding game, 33-31.
Jesi Bewley (Cincinnati, OH) led the Knights with 15 kills, 15 digs, a .225 hitting percentage, and two service aces. Setter Kim Harper (Boca Raton, FL) posted a double-double with 27 assists and 20 digs. Libero Erin Haugen (Ft. Mills, SC) had a team-high 22 digs while Lauren McManus (Raleigh, NC) had 12 digs and nine kills. Dani Ghramm (Hayden, ID) chipped in with seven digs, five kills and three aces.
The Falcons were led by Heather Klein’s seven kills and seven blocks. Morgan Liebert added 18 assists and three aces while Brittany Poole scooped up 19 digs.
The Knights host CVAC rival Barton on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
