September 25, 2005

SPARTANBURG, SCThe Converse All-Stars returned to their winning ways after a three-game CVAC slide with a 3-0 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference victory over visiting St. Andrews.

In a hard fought battle which Converse wrestled control of early, the All-Stars were led by defensive stalwart Lauren Mueller (Foley, AL) with six solo-blocks on their way to the win.

The first set was full of serving errors and the All-Stars would ride stellar setting from Brittany Ogez (Tulsa, OK) to eventually pull away and take it 30-23. The next two sets would follow suit with Converse’s power hitting leading the way through Mueller and Leslie Shain (Joliet, IL) and their 10 kills each.

Junior Lauren McManus (Raleigh, NC) led the Knights with 14 digs, six kills and two aces. Junior Jesi Bewley (Cincinnati, OH) skiked 17 kills and snagged 12 digs. Junior Kim Harper (Boca Raton, FL) supplied 23 assists and 16 digs. Freshman Liz Windham (Wartrace, TN) added 15 digs and five kills.

With the win the All-Stars improved to 9-10 (4-5 CVAC) while St. Andrews fell to 1-10 (1-5 CVAC).
