ANDERSON, SC—Anderson College rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat St. Andrews Presbyterian College 30-27, 25-30, 25-30, 30-25, 15-12 in a CVAC match Friday night at the Abney Center.
Anderson is now 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the CVAC, while St. Andrews falls to 1-7, 1-2.
In the first game, Anderson snapped a tie at 26 with a 4-1 run for a 1-0 lead in the match. But the Knights bounced back, controlling both the second and third games to take a 2-1 lead. In the fourth game, St. Andrews led 22-21, but Anderson put together a 9-3 run to tie the match at two games apiece.
Anderson never trailed in the fifth game. After a tie at 6, Anderson managed to build a 13-11 lead. A tip by Laura Tye that hit the net cord and dropped for the 14 th point and a kill by Amanda Edwards for the match winner gave Anderson its first five-game victory of the season.
Anderson was led by Tye with 12 kills and seven blocks and Leanna Willis with 11 kills and 10 digs. Anderson setter Jessica Pedrick had 45 assists, 10 digs, and three aces.
Jesi Bewley of St. Andrews finished the match with 26 kills and four blocks, including three solos. Also contributing for the Knights were Lauren McManus with 15 kills, Kim Harper with 52 assists, 19 digs, and three aces; and Liz Windham and Dani Ghramm with 19 digs apiece.
The Knights travel to Misenheimer, NC, for a CVAC match against Pfeiffer University on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
