WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College women’s swim team won nine events against host Salem College en route to the squads first-ever dual meet victory by a score of 114-61 on Friday night. The Lady Knights dropped close battles against Guilford College, 97-93, and Lenoir-Rhyne College, 105-81, at the same time.

“The women raced very well on Friday night,” said St. Andrews first year head coach Jason Gallaher. “We had several season best times and we finished our races much better than in our previous meets. I like the way things are starting to shape up for the program.”

The Lady Knights won a total of 19 events against the trio of foes in the squads first-ever quad-meet.

Freshman Sarah Supcoe (Charleston, W.Va.) won nine individual competitions for St. Andrews while classmate Amy Tripson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded her first three collegiate individual victories.

“It was nice for the women to get their first win in the program's history,” expressed Gallaher. “We have a fantastic group of young women on our team and they work very well together. We look forward to continued success throughout the season.”

Supcoe dominated all three of her races including the 1000 freestyle with a PR of 11:01.66. Supcoe also was victorious in the 200 individual medley (2:19.29) and 100 butterfly (1:03.86).

St. Andrews capped the victory over Salem when Barker, Brandenburg, Rouse, and Tripson won the 200 freestyle relay with a new school record time of 1:55.53. The quartets impressive time in this event was also good for a first place finish and 11 points against the other two opponents.

Guildford 97, St. Andrews 93

St. Andrews forfeited 15 points to Guilford by not competing in the 200 medley relay, but the Lady Knights made a valiant comeback falling just four points shy of the win by out scoring the Quakers 93-82 in the other events.

Supcoe smoked her competition for 27 more points in three more victories in the 1000 free, 200 IM, and 100 fly.

Lenoir-Rhyne 105, St. Andrews 81

Supcoe, who now has won 14 individual events in five dual meets, again swept all three of the same events against Lenoir-Rhyne.
