MISENHEIMER, N.C.—Freshman Sarah Supcoe (Charleston, W.Va.) won three individual races for visiting St. Andrews Presbyterian College but host Pfeiffer University won both dual meets on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Falcons won 118-59 while the Falcon men won 149-38.
Both Knights squads in their inaugural season fell to 0-2 in dual competitions. St. Andrews travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. for a quad-match on Friday night. Salem College will be hosting the 7:00 p.m. event against SAPC, Lenoir-Rhyne College, and Guilford College.

Supcoe continues to impress to start her collegiate career added three more victories after winning a pair of events in her first dual contest. Supcoe defeated several Lady Falcons swimmers in the 200 individual medley (2:18.96), the 100 butterfly (1:03.22), and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.88). Supcoe’s time in the IM was a new personal record (PR).
Freshman Amy Tripson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added a pair of runner-up finishes for St. Andrews in her first time competing in both the 1000 freestyle (12:28.78) and the 100 backstroke (1:09.76).
Junior Kaley Rouse (Lexington, N.C.) followed for the Lady Knights with a second place result in the 500 freestyle (6:28.39) and a third in the 200 freestyle (2:25.39). Freshman Becky Brandenburg (Swansboro, N.C.), in her first collegiate meet, also competed in the 100 backstroke (1:18.06) and the 200 freestyle (2:27.35).
The sophomore duo of Leslie Firth (Charlotte, N.C.) and Courtney Bertram (Acworth, Ga.) competed in both the 50 and 100 freestyle. Both Lady Knights set new PR’s in each event. Firth concluded the race with times of 34.94 (50) and 1:19.46 (100) while Bertram stopped the clock in 36.36 (50) and 1:22.41 (100).
Tripson, Rouse, Brandenburg, and Firth teamed up to finish second in the 200 freestyle relay with a speed of 2:04.85. The SAPC women did not compete in the 200 medley relay.
MEN: Pfeiffer 149, St. Andrews 38
Freshman Brad Kochel (Winchester, Va.) led the St. Andrews men’s swim team with a pair of runner-up showings. Kochel was less than a second away from the victory in the 50 freestyle (23.49) while also posting a second place finish in the 100 butterfly (57.86).
Freshman Robb Vermillion (Williamsburg, Va.) and senior Ian Burkett (Columbia, S.C.) also competed in the 50 freestyle with times of 28.03 and 29.83, respectively. Vermillion was the top Knights finisher in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.39) while Burkett was the lone Knight in the 100 freestyle with a personal record of 1:07.63.
Freshman Dwight Richardson (Newport News, Va.) tied Kochel with two runner-up totals in the 200 individual medley (2:04.57) and 100 backstroke (57.01). Classmate Adam Crago (Amherst, Va.) was the third Knights to register a second place finish with his 1:58.68 speed in the 200 freestyle. Crago also added a third place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:43.83).
Freshman Brad Kochel (Winchester, Va.) set a PR in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:19.92 while also competing in the 100 backstroke (1:13.16) and the 500 freestyle (6:48.02).
The St. Andrews quartet of Richardson, Vermillion, Crago, and Kochel capped the day with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay. The Knights men did not compete in the 1000 freestyle or the 200 freestyle relay.
