Mason and Dobmeier named First Team All-CVAC

THOMASVILLE, NC—Senior first baseman Amme Mason (Georgetown, CA) and freshman designated player Anne Dobmeier (Buffalo, NY) were named to the 2006 Softball All-CVAC First Team on Friday.

The Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference All-CVAC Teams were determined by vote from each head coach of participating institutions. Nominations are collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, All-CVAC First Team, and All-CVAC Second Team. Awards were presented at the CVAC Softball Team Banquet at the Conference Tournament Championships hosted by Pfeiffer University in Concord, NC.

Mason played in and started all 16 CVAC games for the Knights and had an impressive .408 batting average within the league. Mason also posted other strong numbers in the CVAC with 20 hits, a .453 on-base percentage, and 12 RBI. On the year, Mason led the Knights with seven doubles, four home runs, 31 RBI and a .581 slugging percentage.

Dobmeier played in and started all 16 CVAC games for the Knights and followed right behind Mason with a .396 average and .479 slugging percentage in conference play. Dobmeier, who had two home runs on the season, also saw the most time on the mound for St. Andrews with 25 appearances. Dobmeier led the Knights with 116.1 innings, 30 strikeouts, and four wins.
