CVAC Tourney Bracket (Excel)
THOMASVILLE, NC—St. Andrews Presbyterian College will enter the 11-team 2006 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Softball Tournament as the No. 10 seed as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. The Knights draw No. 7 seed Pfeiffer University in the first round on Friday at 9:00 a.m.
St. Andrews (8-26 overall; 4-14 CVAC) will battle host Pfeiffer (16-35, 9-11) in the opening game of the tournament. The two teams split the regular season doubleheader with the Lady Falcons winning the first game 5-1 while the Knights took the nightcap 4-0.
Pfeiffer will be hosting the tournament at Frank Liske Park and Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, NC.
If the Knights win their first-round game, they will battle No. 3 seed Belmont Abbey on Friday at 3:00 p.m. However, if they drop their opening game, they will take on loser of the No. 4 Coker/No. 5 Anderson game on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in an elimination game.
Other tournament seeding includes No. 1 Queens, No. 2 Limestone, No. 6 Lees-McRae, No. 8 Erskine, No. 9 Mount Olive, and No. 11 Barton.
The CVAC will announce the All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, and Freshman of the Year at the softball awards banquet.
