BANNER ELK, NC—Senior Amme Mason (Georgetown, CA) hit her fourth home run of the year on Tuesday, but host Lees-McRae College swept the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference softball doubleheader over St. Andrews Presbyterian College by 8-0 and 6-4 scores.
The Lady Bobcats improved to 13-19 overall and 9-11 in the CVAC, while the Knights fell to 8-26 and 4-14.
Mason’s three-run blast came in the third inning of the nightcap to give St. Andrews a 4-1 lead. However, Lees-McRae tallied four runs in the sixth inning to catapult into the lead for good.
Mason, freshman Dani Ghramm (Lake City, ID) and sophomore Mika Tanji (Honolulu, HI) all had two hits in the second game.
Reigning CVAC Pitcher of the Week Hannah Morgan dominated the first game with the five-inning, eight-strikeout no-hitter.
Dakota Beck led the Lady Bobcats offensively with a 5-for-5 day with a home run, two doubles, five RBI, and three runs scored.
On deck for the Knights will be the 2006 CVAC Softball Tournament in Concord, NC. St. Andrews, seeded No. 10, will face No. 7 seed Pfeiffer University on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the Frank Liske Park.
