Laurinburg, N.C. – The Lady Knights took tothe diamond to square off against a very talented Mars Hill squad for five innings of softball. The Knights who were trying to get back to their winning ways had some difficulty doing so, which led to the eventual loss with the score of 7-1.
The game was a stalemate, as neither team could get anything going for themselves offensively until the bottom of the second when Mars Hill managed to put up a run. The Knights answered back as Freshman Natalie Whitman (North Tonawanda, NY) started things off and singled to center field, while later in the inning Freshman Alyssa Carlson (Chesapeake, VA) also singled to center field which brought in a run giving the Lady Knights the first score of the day, and bought the game to a tie 1-1. St. Andrews did not hang around long though as Mars Hill exploded with four runs in the fourth, and two more in the fifth while the Lady Knights could not manage to put any more runs on the board. Mars Hill went on to take the game by the score of 7-1.
