Gaffney, S.C.- The Knights (4-20, 2-10) had to have a short memory though as they got back on the road and traveled all the way to Gaffney, S.C. Sunday to face off against Limestone College (10-22, 1-3-1) in another Conference Carolinas doubleheader. The long weekend seemed to be even longer in game one as the Knights continued to have trouble offensively by only accumulating four hit. St. Andrews went on to drop the first game by a score of 4-0.
The Knights showed their mental toughness in game four, game two against the Saints, of their grueling road trip as they continued to battle and play solid defense against the Saints. The game was a 0-0 stalemate all the way to the top of the sixth inning when Freshman Kim Baird (Lexington, GA) was hit by a pitch bringing in Junior Ashley Disque (Prince Frederick, MD) for the score. Freshman Alyssa Carlson (Chesapeake, VA) came up to the plate next and singled to right field driving in another run for the Knights putting them up by two runs. Limestone tried to make a late rally, but only managed to put up one run as the Knights marched on to the victory with a final score of 2-1. For the Knights Ashley Disque picked up the win and Junior Lex Cowger (Indian Head, MD) went a perfect 2-2. St. Andrews plays again on Wednesday as they travel to USC- Aiken for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
