Tigerville, S.C. – The Lady Knights, (2-17) made the five hour journey to Greenville Saturday to square off against the Crusaders of North Greenville (6-10). The Lady Knights however found themselves on the short end of the stick, suffering two losses with the scores of 9-0, and 2-1.
Game One: In game one, the score remained tied until the bottom of the second when North Greenville caught fire and put up five runs. The Lady Knights could not answer back, and the Crusaders had another big inning in the third where they put up five more runs and extended their lead to a final score of 9-0. The Knights had some success offensively by Freshman Kim Baird (Lexington, GA) who went 2-2 with two singles.
Game Two: The second game of the day was similar to the first, as the Lady Knights continued to struggle putting up runs. North Greenville offense was not as successful as game one, but did score a run in the second and fifth to put them on top 2-0. St. Andrews attempted a late rally and scored a run in the top of the seventh after Freshman Meagan Soots (Mt. Holly, NC) hit a homerun. The Crusaders then locked down on the next two batters forcing a groundout and strikeout ending the game in a 2-1 defeat for St. Andrews. The Knights take to the diamond again Monday when they play a doubleheader at Coker College with the games starting at 2 p.m.
