LAURINBURG, N.C.—Sophomore Jasmine Dobbin (Pikeville, N.C.) had three hits for host St. Andrews Presbyterian College including the Knights only hit in the opener as No. 4 Southeast Region ranked Georgia College & State University swept an NCAA Division II softball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon by scores of 10-0 (5) & 11-2.

The Bobcats, who are receiving the most votes amongst teams outside the nationally top-25 poll, move 10 games over .500 at 27-17 on the season. The Lady Knights stumble to 14-21.

Senior Tonya Medders (Bascom, Fla.) had a big day for the visitors going 5-for-7 with six RBI and three runs scored. Medders also picked up her second win of the season in a complete game victory in the nightcap.

Ten different Bobcats had a hit on Saturday including four base knocks by senior Lindsey Swanson (Kennesaw, Ga.).

St. Andrews celebrated ‘Senior Day’ between the twin bill as the Knights coaching staff recognized its three seniors including Dani Ghramm (Hayden, Idaho), Tiffany Capone (Jacksonville, N.C.), and Megan Riggs (Hubert, N.C.). SAPC next visits Conference Carolinas rival Limestone College (Gaffney, S.C.) on Tuesday at 2 p.m. GCSU returns home for a Peach Belt Conference tilt against Columbus State University on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

GAME ONE: GCSU 10, SAPC 0 (5 innings)
Box Score; Play-By-Play

Senior Mandy Chandler (Covington, Ga.) only allowed one hit as Georgia College & State rolled to a 10-0 victory in the first game. Chandler (23-9), who ranks in the top-10 nationally in strikeouts, fanned 10 Knights in the shutout.

Chandler allowed a single to Dobbin in the first inning but settled down and retired the final 12 batters she faced after allowing a lead-off walk to begin the second inning.

GCSU scored in all five innings to post the shortened victory with the NCAA eight-run rule being enforced after the fifth. The Bobcats scored their 10 runs on 12 hits including a pair of base knocks by Swanson, Medders, freshman Anna Parker (Columbus, Ga.), and freshman Haley Burnett (Columbus, Ga.).

Parker highlighted the visitors scoring with a two-run triple in the third inning.

GAME TWO: GCSU 11, SAPC 2 (6 innings)
Box Score; Play-By-Play

Georgia College smacked 14 more hits in the finale to complete the sweep with an 11-2 victory in six innings.

Medders had a game-high three hits from the plate while going the distance from the pitchers circle. Medders (2-0) allowed two runs on five hits in the complete game while recording five strikeouts. Medders helped out her own cause going 3-for-4 including her first home run of the season, a three-run blast to left-center in the fourth.

The Bobcats built a 4-0 lead with a pair of runs in both the first and third before pulling away with five more runs in the fourth.

The Knights scored their only runs of the day in the bottom of the fourth. Dobbin led off with her fourth triple of the season and eventually scored on a double by junior Danyell Marquez (Riverside, Calif.), who leads St. Andrews with 14 doubles and 29 RBI. Freshman Ashley Disque (Prince Frederick, Md.) later plated Marquez on an RBI-groundout.

Senior Chelsea Wilson (Jacksonville, Fla.) clubbed a two-run double in the sixth to give the Bobcats the two runs needed to shorten the game to just six innings.

Dobbin and Marquez both had two hits. Dobbin swiped a base in each game and leads the Knights with 20 stolen bases. Junior Sarah Applegarth (Gainesville, Ga.) started both games for SAPC and was tagged with the loss each time.
