LAURINBURG, N.C.—Senior Erin Haugen (Ft. Mill, S.C.) was the only St. Andrews batter to collect two hits on the day as visiting Coker College spoiled the Lady Knights ‘Senior Day’ with a 10-0 and 5-2 Conference Carolinas sweep on a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon.

In between games, St. Andrews second year head coach honored her four seniors including Haugen, Mika Tanji (Honolulu, Hawaii), Samantha Stewart (Ft. Pierce, Fla.), and Ashley Shurtleff (Colton, Calif.).

The Cobras, who are contending for the Conference Carolinas regular season title, improved to 26-10 overall and 11-1 in the league. The Lady Knights fell to 8-29 and 3-13.

St. Andrews returns to the diamond for a non-conference doubleheader against visiting USC Aiken on Wednesday starting at 2:00 p.m.

GAME ONE: Coker 10, St. Andrews 0 (5 innings)

Coker posted five runs in the first inning and rolled to a 10-0 five-inning victory in the opener.

The Cobras pitching staff held the Knights to just two hits. Haugen and freshman Jasmine Dobbin (Pikeville, N.C.) had the only hits for SAPC. Sophomore Brianna Shurtleff (Colton, Calif.) reached base twice on a pair of walks.

Stewart was charged with the loss after allowing six runs on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings of work.

GAME TWO: Coker 5, St. Andrews 2

St. Andrews pulled to within one run, 3-2, with a pair of late runs but Coker completed the conference sweep with two runs in the seventh inning en route to the 5-2 victory.

The Cobras scored one run in the first and two more in the fourth before St. Andrews got on the board in the sixth.

The Knights took advantage of three errors in the sixth scoring two unearned runs. Haugen and Dobbin both scored in the rally. Haugen, Stewart, and sophomore Daisy Mendez (Miami, Fla.) had the three Knights hits in the nightcap.

Coker added two insurance runs in the seventh to take the three-run win.

Stewart was tagged with another loss even though she pitched her 13th complete game of the season.
