The Knights, who improved to 4-16 overall, ripped 15 hits in the doubleheader sweep.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first game with two runs in the first and two more in the third. WV State added another run in the fourth to take a commanding 5-0 advantage.

However, SAPC rallied back with three runs in the fourth and another four run outburst in the sixth catapulted the Lady Knights past the visitors 7-5.

Stewart earned her second win of the season with the compete-game victory allowing five runs on six hits while striking out three.

Rushing capped her big day by driving in the game-winning run in extra innings as St. Andrews pulled out a 3-2 victory in the nightcap to complete the sweep of West Virginia State.

The Yellow Jackets once again took the early advantage jumping out to a 2-0 lead behind a run in each of the first two innings.

Freshman Kailee Munden (LaVerne, Calif.) tied the game back up with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. Munden’s blast was her second of the season.

The game went to extra innings neither team could score in the final three innings. SAPC escaped a Yellow Jacket threat in the top of the eighth as sophomore reliever Brittni York (Indian Trail, N.C.) held the visitors scoreless after getting two runners on base with no outs by getting three straight outs.

York was then placed on second base to start the home half of the eight under the international tiebreaker run and was advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. Rushing then reached base on a fielding error while York crossed home for the game-winning run.
