In their own words...
"Living on campus is a life experience I have learned so much from. We eat together, watch TV together, study together, and do absolutely nothing together. When I go home for breaks, it’s like I’m leaving my second family!"

Box Score

Belmont, NC-
Brandon Standridge (Rockingham, NC) and the SAU Knights fought for a comeback against host Belmont Abbey during an intense afternoon of men’s soccer. After starting the second half with a 0-2 deficit, the Knights took charge and pushed for a come back. Unfortunately they came up short in the end as they fell to the Crusaders 1-2.

The Knights (0-6 Conference, 1-8 Overall) were surprised at how quickly the Crusaders (2-2, 4-5) were able to put the ball into the net, with the first goal of the game being scored after only 4:47 minutes of play. Conor Wells did not waste any time putting the Abbey on the board. Picking up a pass from fellow Crusader Ross Smith, Wells blasted the ball by SAU keeper Corey Francis (Greenville, NC).

Francis got his hands on two of the four shots that the Crusaders fired at the goal and did not have to worry too much about the other shots that were taken by Belmont Abbey that missed the goal. About 22:00 minutes after Wells scored, Jose Penaloza shot the Crusaders’ second and final goal of the game.

Down by two at the half, the Knights were able to re-group and come up with a game plan to get inside the box and take some shots at Louis Liberatore, who was in goal for the Crusaders. Well, their plan worked. In the second half, the Knights managed to boot five shots, two of which challenged Liberatore.

Standridge was the only Knight to find the net in today’s competition. Edwin Mwangi (Durham, NC) looked up the field and found Standridge with a path to the goal. After the pass, Standridge turned and blasted the ball into the back of the net, giving the Knights their first and only goal of the day. Michael Mutebi (Entebbe, Kampala, Uganda) also took advantage of his placement on the field and fired two shots, while Brendan Duncan (Monroe, NC) and MarkJoseph Kasian (Dauphin, PA) each took one shot.

On Saturday, October 1 the Knights will once again find themselves in the Blue Ridge Mountains, only this time it will be to take on the King College Tornado at 3:00 PM.
