In their own words...
"Living on campus is a life experience I have learned so much from. We eat together, watch TV together, study together, and do absolutely nothing together. When I go home for breaks, it’s like I’m leaving my second family!"

Box Score

Banner Elk, NC- Men’s soccer held off Lees-McRae for 95 minutes, until the Bobcats booted the game wining shot during overtime; ending the game in a 1-0 loss for the visiting Knights.

The Knights (1-3, 0-1 Conference Carolinas) put up a solid defense as they managed to keep the Bobcats’ (3-1, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) first 25 shots from going in the net. Corey Francis (Greenville, NC) saved 12 of the 13 shots on goal that Lees-McRae fired, while playing the entire 95:09 minute game. Francis worked hard the entire game, saving six shots each half. While Bobcats sophomore keeper Thomas Rusling only had to save one shot per half.

Lees-McRae responded to the Knights’ quick defenders with an impenetrable defense of their own, only allowing the St. Andrews squad to take two shots. Junior Alex Smith (Winston-Salem, NC) and Senior Dennis Schardt (Bethesda, MD) managed to each take one shot at Rusling, who was in goal for the Bobcats for the entire duration of the competition.

When the Knights arrive back in Laurinburg, they will begin practice for their next game; a contest which will be held at Knights Field on the campus of St. Andrews. So be sure to come out and support the men’s soccer team as they take on the Bulldogs of Barton College on Wednesday, September 14 at 5:00 PM, following the women’s soccer game that will commence at 3:00 P.M.
