Garton, Momoh, and Ferris named All-Conference

November 8, 2007

LAURINBURG, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College junior forward Justin Garton (Germantown, Md.) was named to the men’s soccer All-Conference Second Team while teammates senior Jerry Momoh (Trenton, N.J.) and junior Jamin Ferris (Durham, N.C.) were also honored as All-Conference selections on the Honorable Mention list.

Conference Carolinas announced the All-Conference teams at the Honors Banquet Luncheon during this weekend's Conference Carolinas Championship Soccer Tournament. The banquet was held at the Murphy Regional Center on the Mount Olive College campus as they play host for the tournament championship for the second consecutive year. Head Coaches from conference member institutions nominate and then vote upon the award winners who represent the best of the best for the conference.

Garton earned his second team All-Conference recognition after breaking the St. Andrews single-season scoring record with 15 goals and 32 points in 2007. Garton averaged 1.68 points per game to lead a Knights squad that set the school record for goals in a single season with 43 scores. Garton had game-winning goals against UNC Pembroke, Limestone, Coker, and Chowan. Garton posted a hat trick against the Cobras while having five multi-goal outings. Garton also scored on both of his penalty kick opportunities.

Momoh, who ended his collegiate career with 17 goals and four assists at SAPC, garnered his second All-Conference Honorable Mention award in 2007. As a midfielder, Momoh was the fourth leading scorer this past season with five goals, three assists, and 13 points in 18 starts for the Knights. Momoh, who controlled the pitch for St. Andrews as the central middie, was named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on September 18 after scoring a goal in three straight games.

Ferris, who was a Daktronics All-Southeast Region selection in 2006, received his first Conference Carolinas award this year as an All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree. Ferris started in all 20 games this past season for the Knights as the team’s sweeper on defense. Ferris, who tallied a goal against Belmont Abbey College, led the St. Andrews defensive unit to five shutouts. Ferris and the Knights D held opponents to 1.74 goals per game.
