LAURINBURG, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College was unable to convert on 14 shots, earning a 0-0 overtime tie against visiting University of South Carolina at Aiken in a Southeast Regional men’s soccer game on Wednesday afternoon.

After regulation and the first 10-minute overtime, the game was suspended due to darkness before the final overtime period started. At that time both teams agreed the contest would be called a 0-0 final after 100 minutes.

The Knights, who are currently ranked tied for No. 3 in the Southeast Region, extended their unbeaten streak to five games with the scoreless tie. SAPC maintains a 6-2-2 overall record while the Pacers, who are coming off a victory against then No. 14 nationally ranked Clayton State, hold a 3-5-1 ledger.

Both teams’ goalkeepers were spectacular in preserving the shutouts for each squad. St. Andrews junior goalie Nick Stevens (Kernersville, N.C.) made all four of his saves in the second half and overtime frames while USCA netminder Leonel Medina (Merida, Mexico) made four of his five stops in the same 55 minutes.

The Knights held a 14-8 shot advantage but were only able to put five of those attempts on frame. Aiken was whistled offside’s nine times compared to only once by the hosts but SAPC was yellow carded six times to the Pacers four cautions.

St. Andrews will host a Conference Carolinas showdown against Limestone College on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. while USC-Aiken entertains Peach Belt foe North Georgia on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
