NSCAA/adidas Southeast Regional Poll: Sept. 25, 2007

LAURINBURG, N.C.—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College men’s soccer team is ranked tied for third in the current NSCAA/adidas Southeast Regional Poll released on Tuesday, earning the highest ranking ever in the program’s NCAA Division II era (1995-present).

The Knights have earned such a high recognition in the Southeast Region after winning their last four games including road games against Pfeiffer University (3-2), North Greenville University (4-2), and UNC-Pembroke (3-2) and a home contest against Barton College (2-0). St. Andrews currently boasts a 6-2-1 overall record after posting wins in their last four games.

St. Andrews is competing for national attention in a very strong southeast region. Both teams ahead of the Knights in the regional poll are also ranked nationally. Top-ranked Lees-McRae is currently tied for seventh in the national poll while Lander University is 16th. SAPC is tied with Clayton State, who is 23rd nationally, and Limestone, who is receiving votes in the national poll.

The Knights will be gunning for their first straight victory on Wednesday, when they host southeast region foe USC-Aiken at 5:00 p.m. SAPC will try and avenge a 3-1 loss in Aiken, S.C. last season. The Knights will then entertain Limestone, who they are tied with, on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

NOTE: St. Andrews previous highest ranking in the Southeast Region was fifth in 2006.
