Kevin Buczek enters his seventh year as Sports Information Director and primary media contact for all 16 NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in 2009/2010.
Buczek was hired in September of 2003 and is responsible for the publicity and media relations of the Knights Athletic Department. Buczek writes, edits, and designs all media press releases distributed through the St. Andrews Athletic Department and maintains the College's athletics website, manually updating it daily and providing all written content. Buczek also works closely with the production of online media guides and game-day programs for all 16 sports.
In addition to serving as the primary media contact, Buczek oversees all game-day and cumulative statistics for the Knights and reports to both Conference Carolinas and the NCAA. Buczek has served as Conference Carolinas SID chair in 2009/10.
Buczek is a voting member for both the NCBWA National and Southeast Regional Polls and was the official scorer at the 2009 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship 'World Series' Tournament in Cary, N.C. Buczek has been hired as an SID at the 2006 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball East Regional and the 2004 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Atlantic/Southeast Super Regional while also serving as the host SID at numerous Conference Carolinas (formally CVAC) Tournaments over the past 10 years.
Buczek is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA).
Prior to coming to St. Andrews, Buczek worked as a volunteer assistant in the SID office at his alma mater, Barton College.
Buczek graduated from Barton in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management. The Hope, New York, native spent four years as a work-study for Barton SID John Hackney, who coached Buczek for three years on the Bulldogs golf team. He cheers for the New York Mets, Carolina Hurricanes, and Green Bay Packers. |
