LAURINBURG, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College athletic director Glenn Batten has announced head baseball coach Keith Williams and head softball coach Elizabeth Burris will serve as assistant athletic directors for the Knights athletic department for the 2009/2010 school year.
Williams is the assistant athletic director for the total day-to-day operations for the St. Andrews athletic department. Williams will cover the general department operations and is the primary contact for Knights athletics.
Coach Williams has over 10 years of collegiate coaching experience and will enter his third season at the helm of the Knights baseball program. Williams was an assistant athletic director at Rutgers University at Camden before coming to St. Andrews. He graduated from The Catholic University of America with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering and later earned a Master of Science in Administration, Sports and Recreation from West Chester University.
“I am extremely excited for the opportunity to work with Glenn Batten and Liz Burris leading the athletic department during the upcoming school year and beyond,” said Williams. “I look forward to the chance to aid our outstanding coaches and student-athletes in their attainment of all of their goals.”
Burris has taken over assistant athletic director duties in the areas of NCAA compliance for the whole athletic department as well as student-athlete development. Burris will continue to serve in as the senior women’s administrator for St. Andrews.
Coach Burris enters her fourth season as the Lady Knights head softball coach. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and then earned a Masters of Education in School Counseling at Florida Gulf Coast in 2005.
“I am very excited to have this opportunity to help our athletics department continue to move in a positive direction,” said Burris. “I have no doubt that Glenn [Batten], Keith [Williams], myself, and the rest of the staff will work hard to make this department and our programs successful and a great experience for our student-athletes.”
St. Andrews Presbyterian College is a four-year liberal arts institution that competes in NCAA Division II athletics and is a member of Conference Carolinas. The Knights have 16 NCAA Division II varsity sponsored sports including men’s & women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s & women’s cross country, men’s & women’s basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, men’s & women’s golf, men’s & women’s lacrosse, and men’s & women’s track & field.
