The SAPC men’s team claimed sixth out of seven teams with 45 points while the Lady Knights finished in seventh place with 10 points. The Limestone College women and Lees-McRae men won the respective team titles.

Rogers, who successfully defended his league title in the shot put, was just two points shy of being named the men’s field Athlete of the Year. Rogers earned 24 of the Knights 45 points in a trio of throwing events. Rogers dominated the shot put with a winning heave of 14.39m (1.49m longer than second place) while inching out another win in the discus throw with a toss of 36.95m. Rogers also took fourth place in the hammer throw with a distance of 37.79m. Rogers’ marks in the shot put and hammer throw are both new personal and SAPC school records.

Senior Charles Phillips (Decatur, Ga.) was the only other track & field athlete to earn All-Conference attention, earning Second Team honors with his second place finish in the high jump. Phillips was the runner-up with an impressive leap of 1.83m. Phillips narrowly beat out sophomore teammate Domonique Hollins (Columbia, S.C.), who finished third with a mark of 1.78m.

Phillips stayed busy with a sixth place distance in the long jump (6.23m) and eighth place mark in the triple jump (12.18m). Hollins also leaped in the long jump (5.41m).

On the women’s side, junior Alexandria King (Tucson, Ariz.) and sophomore Rebecca Maye (Zebulon, N.C.) were contributing members in all of the Lady Knights team points. King earned St. Andrews four points with a fourth place finish in the 3000m steeplechase (14:16.28) and one point with a sixth place result in the 5000m run (22:29.12). Maye garnered two team points with a fifth place showing in the 10000m run (51.35.56), her first time competing at that extreme distance.

King and Maye then teamed up with junior Danielle Martin (Newport, N.C.) and freshman Joanna Lindstrom (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea) in a pair of relay events as the quartet earned team points both times finishing fifth in the 4x100m relay (1:00.09) and sixth in the 4x400m relay (5:00.72).

King also competed in the 400m hurdles (1:19.09) and the 400m dash (1:13.99).

Senior Tyler Lee (Hillsborough, N.C.) concluded her four-year, two-sport career at SAPC in a trio of throwing events for the Lady Knights. Lee posted competitive distances of 8.11m in the shot put, 23.07m in the discus throw, and 18.54m in the hammer throw. Junior Amy Tripson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) followed with a 6.93m performance in the shot put and a 19.90m mark in the javelin throw.

Four Lady Knights competed in the 1500m run to concluded competition for the St. Andrews women’s track & field team. Back on the men’s side, St. Andrews finished in the middle of the pack in several mid to long distance running events. Junior Josh Pickett (Asheville, N.C.) earned one team point with a sixth place result in the 1500m run (4:21.19) while also finishing in the upper half of the field in the 800m run (2:05.82). Senior Brad McKee (Kings Mountain, N.C.) and freshman William James (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) also competed in the 1500m run with times of 4:34.63 and 4:54.56 respectively.

James made impressive debuts in both the 5000m run (17:03.52) and 1000m run (35:20.71), leading the Knights in both events. James claimed one team point with his sixth place finish in the 10000. Junior Tommy Wilson (Salisbury, N.C.) followed James in seventh place at 36:18.12. Senior Jon Lecker (Minneola, Fla.) added times of 18:02.37 (5000) and 37:43.06 (10000) in the endurance races.
