HICKORY, N.C.—Junior Alexandria King (Tucson, Ariz.) broke her own school record in all three events she competed in this past weekend to highlight competition for the St. Andrews women’s track & field team at the 2010 Lenoir-Rhyne PowerSox Invitational on Saturday.

Junior Alex King (pictured) set new SAPC school records in three events at the Lenoir-Rhyne PowerSox Invitational on Saturday including the 100 and 400 meter hurdles.

The Lady Knights, who only competed in nine events, recorded five personal record (PR) marks in preparation for the 2010 Conference Carolinas Championships hosted by Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C., on Friday & Saturday, April 16-17 at the Dickerson Athletics Complex.

King had top-10 finishes in all three of her events as she took third place in the 3000 meter steeplechase (12:46.75), sixth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:15.15), and ninth in the 100 meter hurdles (17.61). All three of her times broke her benchmark SAPC school record times she set earlier in the season. King was the second place Conference Carolinas finisher in both the 3000m steeplechase and 400m hurdles.

Seven Knights took off on the shotgun in the 1500 meter run. Freshman Joanna Lindstrom (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea) led the group with a time of 6:01.91. Sophomore Rebecca Maye (Zebulon, N.C.) posted a PR time of 6:06.45. The other SAPC 1500m times included junior Danielle Martin (Newport, N.C.) in 6:28.74; senior Lauren Crabb (Kalamazoo, Mich.) in 6:54.43; junior Amelia Shill (Moore, S.C.) in 6:58.20; senior Laura McDowell (Raleigh, N.C.) in 6:59.47; and freshman Amanda Espinosa (Long Island, N.Y.) with a benchmark time of 7:12.11.

Senior Tyler Lee (Hillsborough, N.C.) and junior Amy Tripson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) were the only other Lady Knights to participate on Saturday, as the duo competed in four throwing disciplines.

Lee -- who also tried the long jump for the first time this season with a distance of 3.62-meters – had top-10 finishes in the hammer throw (22.29m) and discus throw (24.89m). Lee (7.78m) and Tripson (6.87m) both heaved the shot put while Tripson added a 10th place result in the javelin (19.83m).
