PEMBROKE, N.C.—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College women’s track & field team posted results in seven events at the Braves Classic hosted by UNC Pembroke on St. Patrick’s Day.

SAPC's Tyler Lee (pictured) had her best distance of her senior season in the discus throw at the Braves Classic, while also competing in the shot put and hammer throw.

Senior Tyler Lee (Hillsborough, N.C.) had the busiest day for the Lady Knights, producing top-six finishes in a trio of throwing events. Lee claimed third place in the hammer throw with a toss of 23.31 meters. Lee added a fifth place finish in the discus with a distance of 27.28m, and a sixth place result in the shot put with a heave of 8.52m.

Junior Alex King (Tucson, Ariz.) -- the reigning Conference Carolinas women’s track athlete of the week -- provided SAPC with a couple impressive results. King won the 400-meter hurdles by over four seconds with a benchmark time of 75.58 seconds. King followed with a second place finish in the 3000m run, crossing the finish line just three seconds behind the winner in 12:17.53.

Junior Amy Tripson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) also competed in a pair of throwing events highlighted by a fifth place showing in the javelin. Tripson propelled the long stick 20.57 meters, which is a new person record (PR). Tripson finished two spots behind Lee in the shot put with thrust of 7.00m.

A group of five Lady Knights raced in the 1500-meter run with half of them recording new PR’s. Freshman Joanna Lindstrom (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea) led the quintet of Royal Blue & White racers around the oval track in fifth place with a PR time of 6:06.13. Sophomore Rebecca Maye (Zebulon, N.C.) followed in sixth with a PR speed of 6:08.18. Junior Danielle Martin (Newport, N.C.) took eighth at 6:22.25 before senior Lauren Crabb (Kalamazoo, Mich.) recorded a PR of 6:54.18 and junior Amelia Shill (Moore, S.C.) set a benchmark time of 6:54.39.

No team scores were calculated at the Braves Classic as the Knights competed against the host Braves, Belmont Abbey College, Shaw University, and unattached individuals.

St. Andrews will next compete in the Asics Winthrop Invitational hosted by Winthrop University on Friday & Saturday, March 26-27 in Rock Hill, S.C.
