WILMINGTON, N.C.—Junior Alexandria King (Tucson, Ariz.) scored all six of St. Andrews Presbyterian College’s team points with a third place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase as the Lady Knights began the 2010 Track & Field season at the Seahawk Invitational hosted by UNC Wilmington.

Junior Alex King (pictured right) finished third overall in the 3000-meter steeplechase at UNC Wilmington.

The Seahawk Invite tested the lady Knights as most of the team’s in the competition are from NCAA Division I institutions including UNCW, Northeastern, East Carolina, Buffalo, North Dakota, and UNC Greensboro.

King was the first SAPC track & field athlete to ever compete in the 3000m steeplechase, setting a benchmark time of 13:05.57 while finishing third behind a pair of D-I endurance harriers. King also set a new school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.10 seconds. King capped her competition with a time of 21:13.71 in the 5000-meter run.

In the throwing events, junior Amy Tripson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded a personal record (PR) in the javelin throw, tossing it a distance of 18.54 meters. Tripson also chucked the shot put 7.15m.

Senior Tyler Lee (Hillsborough, N.C.) participated in a trio of throwing events finishing 11th in the shot put (8.73m), 12th in the discus throw (25.60m), and 15th in the hammer throw (23.50m).

Freshman Joanna Lindstrom (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea) made her collegiate debut in a pair of running events for the Royal Blue & White. Lindrstom was the only Knight to race in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 3:06.70.

Lindstrom also led a quintet of SAPC runners to the finish of the 1500-meter run with a benchmark time of 6:11.88. Sophomore Rebecca Maye (Zebulon, N.C.) followed with a PR time of 6:14.25; junior Danielle Martin (Newport, N.C.) finished in 6:43.79; senior Lauren Crabb (Kalamazoo, Mich.) took 7:01.27; and senior Laura McDowell (Raleigh, N.C.) completed the event in 7:12.63.
