HIGH POINT, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College’s Matthew Rogers has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's field Athlete of the Week during week number two in the 2009 outdoor season.
Junior Matthew Rogers had a pair of top-three results in a trio of throwing events at the Braves Classic hosted by UNC Pembroke last Wednesday. Rogers was the runner-up out of 15 entrants in the hammer throw by breaking his school record distance of 36.23m.
Rogers added a third place finish out of 17 competitors in the shot put with a heave of 12.16m, which was another SAPC school record. Rogers capped his day by finishing in the upper half of the field in the discus throw with a chuck of 31.99m.
The Eatonton, Ga., native defeated all Conference Carolinas opposition in the hammer throw and shot put including Limestone and Mount Olive.
