Lees-McRae men's netters sweeps Knights
February 24, 2007 LAURINBURG, N.C.—The Lees-McRae College men’s tennis team earned its first Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference victory of the season by sweeping host St. Andrews Presbyterian College, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Scotland County Tennis Complex. The Bobcats, who hold a 2-3 overall record and a 1-2 mark in the CVAC, won all six singles matches in straight sets en route to the sweep. The Knights fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the league. LMC took a 3-0 lead into singles play after winning all three doubles matches. In a tight No. 2 doubles match, Bobcat freshman Blair Propert (Gold Coast, Australia) and sophomore Romulas Teague (Hickory, N.C.) squeaked out a 9-7 victory over SAPC seniors Daniel Reuben (Esher, Surrey, England) and Cory Fleck (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada). No. 1 sophomore Shaun Sumner (Burlington, N.C.), No. 2 sophomore Alek Mojski (Berlin, Germany), No. 4 Propert, and No. 6 freshman Paul Meunow (Fort Mill, S.C.) all won their respective singles matches easily for the visitors. In the closest singles matches, No. 3 sophomore Richardo Velazquez (Oranjestad, Aruba) defeated junior Andres Centeno (Porto Viejo, Ecuador) 7-6, 6-1 and No. 5 Teague downed senior Juan Carlos Arcila (Medellin, Columbia) 6-3, 7-5.
