Gaffney, SC- On October 8, 2011, St. Andrews Men’s Lacrosse Assistant Coach Christopher Sherman will be inducted into the Limestone College Athletics Hall of Fame. In 2000, Limestone’s men’s lacrosse team, of which Sherman was a member, fought their way to the NCAA lacrosse finals and captured the NCAA Division II National Championship title for the Saints. Sherman, his teammates and other Limestone student-athletes will be honored at a Hall of Fame Banquet as a part of the homecoming activities at Limestone College in October.

Sherman earned a BA in Political Science from St. Andrews Presbyterian College in 2005. During his time at St. Andrews, Sherman served as a residential assistant and a member of the men’s lacrosse team. His two seasons with St. Andrews Lacrosse led him to numerous accolades both on and off the field. Academically, Sherman appeared on the Deans List three semesters and was a two-time All-Academic Conference Honoree.

On the field, Sherman played a total of 971 minutes in the goal for the Knights. Playing in 20 games for St. Andrews, Sherman grabbed 209 saves; earning a 47.3 save percentage and 10.99 goals against average.

The Baltimore, Maryland, native attended Limestone College for three semesters (fall 1999- fall 2000) before eventually finding his way to St. Andrews. As a freshman on the championship squad, Sherman played two games and stopped all three shots on goal that were fired at him, earned a save off of every shot on goal he saw.

Sherman is now serving as the Assistant Men’s Lacrosse coach at St. Andrews for his second consecutive year, as well as working on the residence life staff as a resident director.

The St. Andrews athletic department happily extends congratulatory wishes to Assistant Coach Christopher Sherman for this milestone in his lacrosse career, both as a student-athlete and a coach.
