Box Score

Laurinburg, N.C. - St. Andrews (8-8, 2-3) traveled to Banner Elk North Carolina Saturday afternoon to square off against conference foes Lees McRae College (0-10, 0-4). Though the Bobcats came out strong the Knights weathered the storm and came out victorious.

The first quarter proved to be all Bobcats, as they dominated both sides of the ball not giving St. Andrews any breathing room. Lees-McRae controlled the tempo by getting off ten shots while the Knights only fired off four. St. Andrews also was outhustled as the Bobcats won the groundball battle 12-2 and forced SAPC into 8 turnovers. The Knights found themselves behind with the deficit being 3-0 Bobcats.

St. Andrews came out in the second quarter a completely different team, as they really started to get things going offensively. The Knights went to score four straight goals in the initial seven minutes of the period taking their first lead of the game after Chris Michela’s (Oak Hill, VA) second score of the day with the score of 4-3. As halftime came, both teams found themselves breaking even as the score was once again knotted up at a tie, 5-5.

The second half proved to be all St. Andrews as they completely dominated the game in all facets giving up just one goal the entire half. The Knights; however, did not have any problems finding the net as they continued to score time and time again. St. Andrews ended up scoring six times in the 3rd quarter, and five times in the 4th quarter enroot to a lopsided win score being 16-6.

Leading the way for the Knights were Chris Michela (Oak Hill, VA)and Daniel Shields (Mercer Island, WA) who both had four goals. Cameron Walsh (Farmingville, NY) came on strong with three goals of his own, while Alex Tindall (Edmonds, WA) chipped in two as well. Finishing it out for St. Andrews was goalkeeper Kyle Davitt, (Shoreview, MN) who dominated between the pipes with 13 saves.
