Gaffney, S.C. – St. Andrews Presbyterian College (5-6, 0-2) Men’s Lacrosse team faced off against fellow Conference Carolinas powerhouse the Limestone Saints (8-0, 3-0) on Wednesday afternoon. It proved to be a tough game for the Knights as Limestone just had too much firepower on their side.

Things looked promising at the start of the game when Sophomore Daniel Shields (Mercer Island, WA) scored the game’s first goal and gave the Knights the quick 1-0 lead. However, the Saints would not be denied as their overwhelming offense took over and rattled of seven straight goals to end the first quarter with St. Andrews down 7-1.

Though the Knights found the net more often in the second from Freshman Cameron Walsh (Farmingville, NY), Senior Steve Tramonte (Coral Springs, FL), and another from Daniel Shields (Mercer Island, WA) it was more of the same story as Limestone scored nine goals taking the halftime score to 16-4.

The Knights were not able to make the adjustments they would have liked, so the second half played out very similar to the first as they were outscored 11-3 in the half bringing the game to a final of 27-7 in favor of the Saints. Leading the way for the Knights were Daniel Shields (Mercer Island, WA) who had three goals and one assist, Steve Tramonte (Coral Springs, FL) added two goals, and Cameron Walsh (Farmingville, NY and Alex Tindall (Edmonds, WA) both chipped in with one goal each. St. Andrews takes to the field next when they face Belmont Abbey Saturday at 4 p.m. honoring the seniors for senior day.
