THOMASVILLE, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College’s Cole Howell (2-8 overall, 2-0 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week during week number five in the 2008 season.
This is the second consecutive week Howell has received the award. Junior Cole Howell helped lead St. Andrews Presbyterian College to an 11-9 victory in their conference opener against Lees-McRae College on Friday. Howell had three goals and one assist in the win against the Bobcats.
Howell started the week with a game-high eight point performance against non-conference Saint Michael's College (who is receiving votes in the national top-10 poll) on Tuesday. Howell, who has scored in all nine of the Knights games this season, registered five goals and three assists in the overtime loss. Howell provided assists on St. Andrews final two goals against the Purple Knights to force overtime.
Howell, who ranks amongst the league leaders in all three offensive categories, leads St. Andrews with 29 goals, 12 assists, and 41 points. The St. Albert, Alberta, Canada native is averaging 4.1 points/game.
St. Andrews visits non-conference Mars Hill College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
