Cole Howell named offensive Player of the Week

THOMASVILLE, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian Colleges’ Cole Howell (0-8 overall, 0-0 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week during week number four in the 2008 season.

Junior redshirt Cole Howell once again led the St. Andrews men's lacrosse team with ten points this week in two games against two tough non-conference opponents. Howell started the week with a pair of goals and two assists against Notre Dame De Namur. Howell's four-point day was a team-high.

Howell followed it up with a game-high six points in a narrow 14-12 road loss at No. 7 nationally ranked Wingate University. Howell scored four goals and added two helpers to finish with six points.

The St. Albert, Alberta, Canada native leads St. Andrews with 24 goals, 10 assists, and 34 points in eight games. Howell, who has scored in all seven games so far this season, is averaging 3.0 goals and 4.25 points per game.

St. Andrews opens up Conference Carolinas play on Friday afternoon when they host league rival Lees-McRae College at 1:00 p.m.
